Installing Windows License Server

Offline Environments     Online Environments

To set up and run your HP Anyware License Server for Windows quickly, follow the installation steps. The same set of instructions works for both environments, online (internet-connected) and offline (darksite).

Note: Keeping Passwords Secure

Some commands allow the use of the -p flag to provide passwords inline. Although HP Anyware License Server does not log or distribute passwords provided this way, it is difficult to say whether other system loggers (as bash history) are capturing them, leading to inadvertent disclosures. For this reason, HP strongly discourages the use of the -p flag (or the related -n flag used by pcoip-set-password).

Prerequisites

  • To install HP Anyware License Server using the .msi file, log in as Windows administrator, and not as a user with admin privileges. This is because the default Windows behavior does not allow right click and "Run as administrator" for .msi files.

  • Required operating system should be a clean resource.

  • Prior engineering builds, if any, should be uninstalled.

  • No other enterprise application should be running on the system on which you want to install the license server.

  • Do not install python on the system on which you want to install the license server. This will be done by the installer.

  • Do not install any version of Java. This will be done by the installer.
